CMKEM | What We Do ?

Greetings,

"Man"... He is always progressing since the day this particular species was born. We look at this progress in the form of evolution, that's why we call this specie a Man. This increasing graph of progress of this man has reached to globalization. This globalization has mended the gap between us all. This same globalization opened up new spaces and widened the scales of capitalism in the whole world. It widened its' scales of businesses, which increased the levels of profits. But with the positive changes it even brought the negatives changes. Like the capitalists who were heading the progress of capitalism started to get more and more greedy. They helped each other and tormented normal people of this society just like the mad king of France.

The horrendous conditions of Mills of Mumbai can be a good example. Once these Mills were known as the house of garments suddenly became nothing just because of the lands on which they were standing became more valuable than the Mills itself. The owners of these Mills were all rich on the hard workings of the Mill workers' families. A generation of these Mills workers was hugely affected by the Mill owners' greed. Birla Sheth, the leader of these capitalistic monsters tried to repeat this same treacherous deed on the lands of Worli's Century Mill. By hook or by crook the owner decided to shut down the mill. But the workers of Century Mill were adamant on their demand to keep on working till retirement. The soul of this fight was in the togetherness of workers and their families. But still the owner was successful in luring 6000 workers in their VRS decoy. The remaining 275 workers were suffered and were tormented with the questions of their fate. This sufferance gave rise to their movement against these cruel capitalists. The families of these 275 workers kept on fighting facing the pressure of the owners, fear of the goons and the tensions of their future. For two years they fought with rigorous legal issues and satyagraha which eventually led them towards victory.

These 275 workers got themselves the right to work till the age of 63. We won't stop at this victory. Now we've to fight together for the rightful homes for workers and to ensure the security of jobs for their next generation.
