The Century Mill workers came together and found an organization namely 'Century Mill Kamgar Ekta Manch' on 15th July, 2012 to have their fair share in the adjudication of the Mill workers. The Mill workers have proved that if they fight with honesty then they can succeed.
Six workers' organizations are fighting together for five years to get the mill workers their privileges. 5837 workers have got their own home through MHADA's lottery of 6925 homes for Mill workers. The families of 22 workers who gave their lives in United Maharashtra Movement were given homes. Then Hon. Prime Minister Mr. PrithvirajChavhan did the BhoomiPujan on 1st March, 2014 of Century Mill, Ruby mill, Prakash Cotton, Jubilee, Bharat Textile Mill, Poddar Process, Western India for the homes to be built on these lands.
On 12th April, 2016 a meeting was organized between Hon. Housing Minister, Hon. Workers Minister and Official of Mill Labour Union Action Mrs. Jayashri Tai KhadilkarPande, Mr. DattajiIsvalkar, Mr. GovindraoMohite, Mr. NanduParkar, Mr. HemantGosavi, Mr. JayprakashBhilare, Mr. PravinGhag, Mr. Nivrutti Desai in the presence of Hon. Prime Minister Mr. DevendraFadanvis. Following decisions were taken after the discussions in the meeting.
Total 2634 flats which are divided as follows : Century Mill 1430, Prakash Cotton Mill 562, Bharat Mill 188, Ruby Mill 45, Jubilee Mill 157, Western India Mill 250. The prices of these flats have been ascertained at 9.50 Lacs. As well as the prices of flats of MMRDA which are available out of Mumbai have been ascertained at 6.00 Lacs. Now all the remaining Mill workers will soon have their homes.
We are grateful to all the people who supported this fight for the rehabilitation of Mill workers in reasonable rates on social and political level.
The historic victory of this prestigious fight of Mill workers will definitely inspire every mill worker because if the workers and their families stay together strong then no one will even try to disregard their rights.
